cows, wooly wetsuits and veg
Personally I admit to having taken several flights, including long-haul, driven tens of thousands of miles, and caught numerous gas guzzling ferries JUST to surf. The emissions associated with this crass pursuit of my passion are totally unjustified unless I can point to some form of offsetting while we await the zero carbon vehicle.
We can shrug our shoulders and blinker ourselves in our selfish pursuit of the next epic ride, but sooner or later someone else will take control of things if we don’t act responsibly… and they may not prioritise things in the same way as we would. If we want to hand the stoke on to the next generation, then finding a sustainable solution to the search should now be high on our priority list.
Planting trees, growing veggies and supporting renewable energy projects is as good a place as any to make a start… and if we’re going to eat meat then we should think about the systems that produced it. Insulate that loft! Spread the word and keep riding those waves of solar energy.
