Cribbar false start by Ben Granata
That’s more like it………. I have always led my life at the last minute, school, work, travel everything. The last two missions we’ve had were very much like that, kit in all four corners of Cornwall, well Newquay and Perran, a boat that had its battery zapped by the cold weather, tow-straps falling out of boards and mud-guards falling off trailers, you name it, it happened.
We got it, we scored and if it wasn’t for the lack of light, we could have had hours more fun, but alas the big yellow orb didn’t quite hang in there. Anyway, as always, preparation was the key.
So this morning, what happens ? It doesn’t, and that’s just how it is the majority of the time, a big hoax. But it was no loss, the fact it was onshore allowed one or two messy 10-15ft sets to grind through, allowing us the chance to put take off the fun hat and put on the work helmet and crack on with some K38 training.
If there is ever a paddle event out on the ‘Headland’ (there is always one in the pipe line) I hope that we will be asked to do the safety and what better way to train than on site. What better way for Paul ‘Occy’ Banks from Era Adventures who has been working with K38 over the last 6 months to get some experience, because you can’t ask someone to do Safety Cover at an event who has no training or experience, can you?
So till next time, or the next time or the time after that or if it ever happens again? Ben G
