I’d stopped shooting the start of the tow, the concensus in the boat being that as the tide to dropped back, the wave would start to jack up more, and we’d get ‘The Shot’ later.
In that quiet time, relaxed despite the constant arrival of booming monsters, this wave came through, seeming incredibly slow, but hit the reef square as Mole dropped into it, and then just kept on stacking up and stacking up behind him.
The crew in the RIB erupted as he made it through the end section. Ken, who was trying to video the sound of the waves, kept complaining that all our hootin’ and hollerin’ was ruining his soundtrack.
The cover shot is shot 2, where it looks like he’s casually dragging a hand, as Greg Martin (Pit Pilot editor) pointed out. Fully stoked to get the cover.
Still buzzing from that trip. Hope that’ll do? There’s waves around, so catch you later.
thats obviously photoshopped as well, wheres all the colour gone ?
